Stonetrip hail from Melbourne, the undisputed Rock N Roll capital of Australia.
Formed in 2019 Stonetrip have built a loyal and always growing following on the Melbourne live scene. Their live performances are energetic, engaging and electric.
Stonetrip have elements of all the classic hard rock bands you have come to love; while there are elements that define and cross decades, they play their own brand of hard rock with all of the elements you could ever want. Catchy choruses, killer riffs and anthemic songs that will stay with you and stand the test of time.
Signed to GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS in 2020, Stonetrip have delivered 3 singles, one being a AA side 7” vinyl single Sideways/ Runaway. Both songs live set staples and fan favourites.
While Covid has slowed down the bands opportunity to play live shows they have been busy, writing, recording and creating.
Other down time between gigs has seen the band busy recording their debut full length album at Lighthill Sound Recording Studios with the one and only Ricki Rae at the reigns.
2022 will see the band release their debut full length album via GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS.
Mark 'Ritcho' Ritchie - Vocals
'Ritcho' as he is known amongst his friends is the frontman for STONETRIP. 'Ritcho' is a veteran of the Melbourne live music scene with over XXXX gigs under his belt in a variety of bands. STONETRIP however is his crowning glory, his self proclaimed last chance to achieve his Rock N Roll dream.
'Ritcho' has always been a prolific songwriter with a huge organised library full of his life thoughts and lyrical ideas. STONETRIP is the perfect vehicle to deliver these musings. With their debut album written and in the process of being recorded; this first collection of lyrics and songs, this is just the beginning.
For over 3 decades 'Ritcho's' partner in musical crime has been STONETRIP guitarist Mick Malusa. Together the pair write effortlessly in an often unorthodox manner that just works. The pair just get each other so intuitively.
Aside from being STONETRIP's frontman 'Ritcho' is also well known for his unique and often hilarious storytelling. Just like his vocal delivery it is striking, enthralling and leaves you wanting more. So if you ever get the chance to strike up a conversation with 'Ritcho' just don't ask him how he came up with the bands name.
Mark uses Shure Microphones.
Mick Malusa - Guitars/Vocals
STONETRIP lead guitarist Mick Malusa is not only a founding member, but has had a long, colourful and creative relationship with ‘Ritcho’. The pair formed STONETRIP after recording 4 songs for an EP that ultimately didn’t have a home within a band, it was a writing collaboration that sat for a while until ‘Ritcho’ rediscovered it and found the magic motivating a phone call to Mick. Mick and ‘Ritcho’s’ musical chemistry was evident more than 3 decades again when the pair first started playing covers.
Mick has a solid classic style; a modern day Steve Clark/John Sykes/Mick Ronson vibe to him where his playing says everything.
Born and bred on a healthy diet of 70’s rock and blues based rock his influences aren’t immediate, but are broad and uniquely define his style and sound.
Mick too like ‘Ritcho’ has a huge personal library of riffs, melodies and licks just waiting for the perfect lyrical musings.
Mick plays Gibson guitars through Marshall cabinets driven by Ulbrick Amplifiers.
